Billy Joe Wooldridge, 85, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Bertrand, Missouri, son of Earl and Susan Powell Wooldridge. He and Sharon Louise Griffin were married Dec. 22, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.

Billy was a member of Cape County Cowboy Church near Oak Ridge. He was a mason with Whitewater No. 417 Masonic Lodge for many years and a Boy Scout leader for many years while raising his sons.

He was a lab technician for Saint Francis Medical Center for 32 years and for Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, Illinois, for six years.

After retirement, he enjoyed his passion for gardening and received the award of Master Gardner. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. His sons would say, "It is because of Dad that I am an excellent shot."

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years; four sons, Matthew (Faith) Wooldridge of Zion, Illinois, Jeffrey Wooldridge of Pacific, Michigan, Jon Wooldridge of Tampa, Florida, and Todd Wooldridge of Rockford, Illinois; and a brother, Dennis Wooldridge of Deltona, Florida.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, with a Masonic service at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Cape County Cowboy Church, 220 Orchid Lane, Oak Ridge, MO 63769.
