SIKESTON, Mo. -- Billy Ray Oakley, 72, of Sikeston died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born April 26, 1933, in Hayti, Mo., son of Walter and Allie Ingould Oakley. He and Ruth Weddle were married on Oct. 11, 1952, in St. Louis.

Oakley was a route salesman for Tom's for 15 years and Hostess for 17 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sikeston and a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen Paul Oakley of San Pedro, Calif.; two daughters, Christine Elizabeth Terrell and Ruth Ann Oakley, both of Sikeston; two brothers, Marion Oakley of Wyatt, Mo., Paul Oakley of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Cargill of Collierville, Tenn., LaVone Crego of Battle Creek, Mich.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
