BENTON, Mo. -- Billy Ray Mahurin, 84, of Benton died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born May 30, 1933, in Goodland, Missouri, to Monte and Katherine Richardson Mahurin.
He and Betty Lou Stegall were married July 12, 1951, at St. Louis.
Billy was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was owner/operator of Mahurin Trucking Company in Jackson for over 50 years.
He attended Cape County Cowboy Church. He loved playing and singing music.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Mahurin of Benton; two daughters, Cindy (Tom) Robbins of Benton and Connie (Tony) Spencer of St. Charles, Missouri; grandchildren, Mark (Kathleen) Mahurin, Todd (Megan) Theodoro and Cassy (Matt) Dameron; eight great-grandchildren, Jackson Theodoro, Eli Dameron, Conner Theodoro, Gavin Dameron, Samuel Mahurin, Grace Dameron, Keegan Dameron and Sophia Theodoro; and a sister, Jean Nielsen of Santa Rosa, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gary R. Mahurin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
