EAST PRAIRIE -- Billy Joe Burney, 67, of East Prairie died Friday Nov. 6, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Hickman, Ky., to Edward and Fronie Aday Burney.
On Dec. 18, 1958, he married Etta Mae Adams, who survives.
He lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was retired from Hogans Farm Supply. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Frank Burney of Mayfield, Ky., Billy Burney of Indiana, and Kevin and Lloyd Burney, both of East Prairie; a brother, Bob Burney of East Prairie; three sisters, Louise Wallace, Dorothy Marks and Gladys Terry, all of East Prairie; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A daughter, three brothers and sister preceded him in death.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with James and Bob Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 153 of Poplar Bluff.
