Billy J. Hill, 71, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born on Jan. 17, 1943, in Matthews, Missouri, to the late Marvin and Lena Godwin Hill, he had served in the U.S. Army, and was employed as a truck driver by Dart Transit. Billy J. Hill, 71, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born on Jan. 17, 1943, in Matthews, Missouri, to the late Marvin and Lena Godwin Hill, he had served in the U.S. Army, and was employed as a truck driver by Dart Transit. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Association and also the American Legion Post 1000 of Jefferson City, Missouri.

On Nov. 24, 1967, in Waynesville, Missouri, he married Barbara Gramlich, who survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Kimberly Hill of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and Brent and Melissa Hill of Caruthersville, Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Donnie Clark of Kingsland, Texas; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bessie McElyea and Betty and Lloyd Roth, all of Cape Girardeau. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Brother Michael Funderburk officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors accorded him by the Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Hill, Brent Hill, Lloyd Roth, Jerry Hazlett, Ron McElyea and Stan McElyea.
