CHARLESTON -- Billy Richard Edwards, 49, of Concord, N.C., died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1950, in Cairo, Ill., son of Billy A. and Mary Frances Williams Edwards. He was formerly of Charleston and Kansas City.
He grew up in Charleston, where he was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Edwards was an independent trucker for National Carriers of Kansas City 10 years. He received the Million Mile Safety Merit Award.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours in Vietnam.
Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca, Amber and Jessica Edwards, all of Weaubleau; two brothers, Dennis Edwards of Raytown, Rodney Edwards of Kansas City; three sisters, Donna Atkins of Independence, Regina Wachter of Bonner Springs, Kan., Robin Lee of Concord; two stepbrothers, Tim Kuykendall of Belton, Keith Kuykendall of Lee's Summit; and a stepsister, Terri Clark of Raymore.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Summers officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
