MCCLURE, Ill. — Billy Joe Croy, 66, of McClure died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 26, 1942, in Cairo, Ill., son of Sid Phillips and Grace Howell. Croy was a lifelong resident of McClure except when working in a copper mine in Winkelman, Ariz., for a few years. MCCLURE, Ill. — Billy Joe Croy, 66, of McClure died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 26, 1942, in Cairo, Ill., son of Sid Phillips and Grace Howell.

Croy was a lifelong resident of McClure except when working in a copper mine in Winkelman, Ariz., for a few years. He also worked at Missouri Dry Dock 15 years. He was a graduate welder being a boilermaker by trade. He retired because of a disability.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Davis of Hockley, Texas, Mary Jo Wilson of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a brother, Charles Croy of McClure; a sister, Bobbie Woodard of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Robert Smithey Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
