SIKESTON -- Billy James Bird, 69, of Sikeston died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1927, in Springfield, son of Rupert and Effie A. Barton Bird.
Bird was founder and chief executive officer of Balverne Vineyards. He received a bachelor of arts degree from University of Southern California, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He moved to Sikeston eight years ago from California.
Survivors include a brother, Herbert Bird of Sikeston, and a sister, Idell Bradley of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 11 a.m. to service time.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ed Pangburn officiating.
