Billy Gene Barnett Sr., 89, of Scott City died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1933, in St. Louis to James Alfred and Clara Mildred McCommons Barnett. He married Joyce Mincher on Feb. 2, 1952, and she preceded him in death July 7, 2014. He later married Donna Kee on May 14, 2021.
He was a truck driver for ABF. He was a member of Shriners and Retreads.
Billy is survived by his wife, Donna Barnett; son, Alan (Charlene) Barnett of Chamois, Missouri; daughter, Diana Masterson of Scott City; daughter-in-law, Mary Barnett of Jackson; two stepsons, Jimmy Branch of Tamms, Illinois, and Brad Mathis of Evansville, Indiana; stepdaughter, Donnetta Plunkett of Alva, Florida; grandchildren, Leanne (Gary) Heuring, Jill (Craig) Glenzy, Kari Ponce, Keith Barnett, James (Tammy) Barnett, David Strop, Kenny (Angie) Strop and Robert (Christy) Strop; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Gene Barnett Jr. on May 15, 2017; two brothers, James Bert and Johnny Barnett; and sister, Carol Ann Barnett.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Dec. 19, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at noon Monday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
