SCOTT CITY -- Billy Joe Bailey, 68, of Scott City died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 28, 1930, in Jasper, Tenn., son of Benjamin Franklin and America Elizabeth Jones Bailey. He and Aimee Vivian Brooks were married Nov. 10, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark. She died July 19, 1984.
Bailey was a truck driver with Wetterau Foods. He was a member of Teamsters Local 574 in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Leabert Fields of Jackson; four daughters, Dephean Tiefenauer of Park Hills, Karen Fields, Vicky Bailey and Patsy Triplett, all of Scott City; a brother, Clint Bailey of Jasper; a sister, Mary Bailey of Jasper; a friend, Vivian Patterson of Scott City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Irvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
