MULVANE, Kan. -- Leslie Vernon "Bill" Waymire, 83, of Mulvane and formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at home.

A joint visitation will take place with his wife from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and a joint funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, all at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta, Kansas.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.

Bill was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Augusta to the late Ida (Martin) and Harry Leslie Waymire.

He was an auto-body technician.

On April 13, 1952, he married Doris (Hall) Waymire, and she passed away three hours after him.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth (Ramona) Waymire; a daughter, Sharon Pippin; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Waymire; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Rick Cook, whose family he considered as his own.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lynn Douglas Waymire.
