OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Bill Sissom, 80, of Olive Branch died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Ullin, Ill., son of John and Mary Carson Sissom. He and Frances Pettit were married April 22, 1942. She died May 28, 2003.
Mr. Sissom was a retired logger, and had also worked for Bill Story Construction. He was an avid bingo and card player.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include two daughters, Deb (Mike) Davis of Cairo, Ill., Jayne Simmons of Olive Branch; three sons, Tony (JoAnn) Sissom of Olive Branch, J.B. (Tina) Sissom of Thebes, Ill., Danny (Sherry) Sissom of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Frieda Pearman of Cape Girardeau; 18 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; a great-great-stepgrandchild; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; two daughters, Susan Modglin in 2002, Kimberly Ann Sissom in 1953; a son, William Dean Sissom in 1965; three brothers, John, Charlie and Bobby.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday until time of service.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Don Heady officiating. Burial will be in Ullin Cemetery, with full military honors by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.
