ADVANCE -- Bill Edward Rhodes, 63, of Advance, died Saturday, July 10, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 20, 1929, at Advance, son of Asa and Helen Zimmer Rhodes.
He was married to Jean Requarth, Jan. 20, 1948, at Advance.
Rhodes was a prominent businessman in Advance since opening an oil company in 1949.
He was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church, the Advance Masonic Lodge, the Elks Club, the Eagles, the Lions Club and DAEOC.
Rhodes also served on the Advance School Board, the Welfare and Development of Advance Board of Directors and on the Mercantile Bank Board of Directors in Bloomfield.
Survivors include his wife of Advance; a son, Billy Rhodes Jr. of Advance; two daughters, Kathy Kinder of Sikeston, Amy Winchester of Advance; two brothers, F.E. "Gene" Rhodes of Cape Girardeau, Donald Rhodes of Bloomfield; two sisters, Joyce Fisher of Advance, Inas Whittaker of Advance; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Chapel at Advance.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Advance United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating, and the Rev. Dale Wiseman assisting.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
