McCLURE, Ill. -- Bill C. Moore, 78, of McClure died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at City Care Center in Cobden.
He was born May 19, 1920, at Gale, son of Charles and Myrtle Smith Moore. He and Beatrice E. Wagoner were married June 10, 1939, at Benton, Mo.
Moore served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a heavy equipment operator with Local 318 in Southern Illinois for more than 40 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Anna and was a member of the American Legion Post 900 in McClure.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles "Chip" Moore of McClure; five daughters, Charlette Ridings of Overland, Mo., Cheryle Dillon of McClure, Christy Berge of Standish, Maine, Marty Sadler of Anna and Becky Mettey of Camden, S.C.; two sisters, Helen Raines of Jonesboro and Connie Lane of One Thousand Palms, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A daughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, with burial at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
