Billie Dean "Bill" Mansell, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 20, 2022, at Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1939, to the late Genevieve Stuckey Menz in Benton, Missouri.

After graduating from Oran (Missouri) High School, he joined the U.S. Army. He married Rita Leona Meyer from Benton, and they had five children.

For many years he was active with the Travelers Protection Association. He enjoyed auctions, trains, collectibles, watching Westerns and reading with his cat, Cocoa, curled up on his lap.

Survivors include all of his children, Charlotte (Steve) Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, Allan (Sharon) Mansell of Fruitland, Cheryl (Pat) Ressel of Scott City, Tammy (Dean) Brotherton of Jackson and Pat (Mary Jo) Mansell of Bridgeton, Missouri. Bill also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife; mother; stepfather, Paul P. Menz; and two half brothers, Paul Menz Jr. of Denver and Danny Menz of Benton.

A small family service will be held Friday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
