BILL LONG

SIKESTON -- Bill Long, 78, Portageville Route 2, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 3, 1913, in Haleyville, Ala., son of Charlie and Rosie Lambert Long. He and Verna Sims were married Aug. 12, 1936, in Lynn, Ala.

Long moved to Portageville in 1960 from Sikeston. He was custodian 15 years at University of Missouri Delta Center, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Portageville.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Myrick of Sikeston, Jimmie Ward of Portageville; three brothers, Ellis, Charles and U.L. Long of Eldridge, Ala.; four sisters, Clara Farris, Christine Farris, Opal Armstrong, Patsy Tucker, all of Eldridge; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and sister.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Portageville. The Rev. Ron Shrum will officiate, with burial in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Hayti.

Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m.
