Bill J. Davis, 62, 750 Perry Avenue, died Monday, Dec. 2, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 14, 1929, in Whitehouse, Texas, son of Hayworth and Grace Davis. He and Jeanette Morse were married in 1959 in Austin, Texas.
Davis attended Kilgore Junior College, and received bachelor and master degrees from the University of Texas. He taught at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., prior to moving to Cape Girardeau in 1963. He was a former professor of English at Southeast Missouri State University.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Davis of Friday Harbor, Wash., William Davis of Knob Noster, and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
There will not be a funeral service.
