SIKESTON, Mo. -- Bill Green, 78, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born Dec. 26, 1940, in Bement, Missouri, to the late Robert and Myrtle Decker Green.

He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1958. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

Bill was employed with the Missouri Department of Transportation from 1959 until 1974. He and his wife, Patricia, owned and operated Bill Green Equipment from 1987 until 2007. He worked at Don King Equipment as a buyer from 1977 through 1987 and again from 2007 until his death.

Bill was an avid turkey hunter and a founding member of the Sand Burr Strutters local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

On Jan. 21, 1959, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, he married Patricia Leible, who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include a son, Steve Green, and his fiancee, Angela Young of Morley, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, R. Jerry and Alberta Green of Murray, Kentucky; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Benny Thurston of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Amanda Green of Oran, Missouri, and Heather Hoyer and Hillary Oetting, both of Sikeston; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Green; grandson, Matthew Steven Green; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Jennifer Moxley, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley.

Pallbearers will be Mark Deane, Bill Deane, Gary DeWitt, Jimmy Baker, Bill Hay, Eric Backfish, Ricky George and Mike Green.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Cookson, Jeff Sartin, Carl Eftink and Stan O'Neal.
