APPLE CREEK -- Funeral Mass for William Charles "Bill" Buchheit of Apple Creek will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle. The Rev. Mark Bozada will officiate, with burial in St. Joseph Church Cemetery at Apple Creek.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville from 6:30-10:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 10.
Buchheit, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1929, at Old Appleton, son of Leo M. and Anna W. Ponder Buchheit. He and Clara Marie Winschel were married Nov. 25, 1954, in Apple Creek.
Buchheit was a carpenter 50 years, retiring from Kemp Homes in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Men's Club at Apple Creek, Western Catholic Union, Knights of Columbus, St. Louis Carpenter's Local 2119, and Ste. Genevieve Carpenters Local 2030.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Joel Buchheit of Imperial, Brent and Daryl Buchheit of St. Louis, William Buchheit of Perryville; five daughters, Mary Smith of Valles Mines, Melissa Webster of Clarksville, Tenn., Annita Layton of Kelso, Angela Kapp of Old Appleton, and Charleen Buchheit of St. Charles.
Also surviving are five brothers, Herb and Erwin Buchheit of Perryville, Leander Buchheit of Old Appleton, Linus Buchheit of Washington, Ind., Martin Buchheit of St. Louis; three sisters, Olivia Amschler and Theresa Wibbenmeyer of Old Appleton, Elfrieda Sutterer of Perryville; and 21 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers, and two sisters.
