CHAFFEE -- W.W. "Bill" Ancell, 82, of Holt Summit died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at St. Mary Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born July 8, 1915, in Biggers, Ark., son of Walter and Ethel Hooker. He was later adopted by Thornton Harvey and Edna Mae Matthews Ancell. He and Grace F. Shores were married Sept. 30, 1935. She died Sept. 19, 1997...

CHAFFEE -- W.W. "Bill" Ancell, 82, of Holt Summit died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at St. Mary Hospital in Jefferson City.

He was born July 8, 1915, in Biggers, Ark., son of Walter and Ethel Hooker. He was later adopted by Thornton Harvey and Edna Mae Matthews Ancell. He and Grace F. Shores were married Sept. 30, 1935. She died Sept. 19, 1997.

Ancell had been a yardmaster with Frisco Railway Co. in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 615 in Chaffee, United Trainmen Union, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valley of St. Louis, and Orient of Missouri.

Survivors include a son, Hadden Ancell of Holt Summit; a daughter, Katherine Smith of Chaffee; two half brothers, Norman Hooker of Las Vegas, Nev., Stanley Hooker of Florida; a half sister, Connie Ripa of Las Vegas; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, a half sister, two half brothers, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Watis Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
