BEULAH MATHIS

EAST PRAIRIE -- Beulah Effie Morgan Mathis, 96, of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of East Prairie, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Montgomery.

She was born March 11, 1901, in Manila, Ark., daughter of Oscar Morgan and Annie Ross Morgan.

She married William Richard Mathis in 1920. He died in 1989.

She is survived by a daughter, June Collier Fletcher of Montgomery; a sister, Mae Mathis of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and sister.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie.

Service will be held Tuesday at the funeral home, at a time to be announced later, with Brother Aubrey Wilson of East Prairie officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
