SIKESTON -- Betty Sue Buchanan, 69, of rural Sikeston died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at Sikeston Health Care Center.
She was born March 26, 1928, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of Brian Holly and Ethel Marie Wilson Roberts. She married Joel G. Buchanan Sr. on March 26, 1944.
She attended Cairo High School and in 1968 attended the licensed practical nursing school in Sikeston. She was employed by Ferguson Clinic for 10 years and later owned the Browse About and Kiddie Korral for 10 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Joel G. Buchanan Jr. of Benton; two daughters, Susan Jo Mawyer of Richmond, Va., and Linda Towery of Sikeston; a sister, Dorothy Bugher of Evansville, Ind., eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ponder Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Sikeston, with the Rev. Ed Pangborn officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
