Betty Brown Sitter, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Heartland Care and Rehab.
She was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Elmo and Frances Yancey Brown. She and Ralph Sitter were married Dec. 2, 1950, at Jennings, Missouri. They were married 64 years.
Betty worked at the Ferguson-Florissant School District 25 years. While there, she received many honors. After retirement, she was a faithful volunteer at Northeast Hospital. She always loved being around friends and family. She was an avid bridge player, great cook and devoted baseball Cardinal fan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Loving survivors include her husband, Ralph of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Susan (Bill) Leming of Cape Girardeau; son, Steven (Debbie) Sitter of O'Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Abigail (Jeffrey) Kohlberg and April and Sara Sitter, all of St. Louis; and great-granddaughter, Emerson Ann Kohlberg of St. Louis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmo Brown; and niece, Betty Lu Brown.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 477, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702.
