Betty Mae Sims, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Wilson and Hilda Matilda Grebing Heise. She and Carl "Johnny" Sims were married Nov. 6, 1954, at Cape Girardeau. He survives.

Betty was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School.

She retired in 2000 after many years in banking.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl "Johnny" Sims of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Carla Sims and Kimberly Sims (Joe Gambill and Nina Gambill) of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Butch (Donna) Heise of Whitewater; a sister, Dorothy (Bob) Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau; a grandchild, Jessica (Josh) Deneke of Whitewater; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kendall Mae Deneke; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Heise and Bettie Dee Heise of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leonard and Merrill Heise.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will follow at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School or Saxony Lutheran High School.
