Betty S. Rampley, 76, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Monticello House.
One of six children, she was born Nov. 30, 1938, to Othel L. and Mary A. Reed Eakin. She and Raymond L. Rampley were married June 8, 1956, at Garden Ridge General Baptist Church in Bell City, Missouri. They had been married 45 years when Raymond passed away Oct. 29, 2001.
Betty was a 1956 graduate of Bell City High School. She and Raymond farmed many years west of Jackson. She was a devoted wife and mother and enthusiastically supported her children in all their school and sports endeavors.
Betty enjoyed baking, especially homemade bread. She also loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables.
Folks in Jackson may best remember Betty and her friendly smile from her employment at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, the former Rozier's and the former Lohman Shoes in uptown Jackson.
She was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson and a former member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. She was previously active in Eastern Star and Job's Daughters and volunteered at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
Loving survivors include four children, Kelly Rampley, Michael Keith (Diane) Rampley and Kevin (Leigh) Rampley all of Fruitland, and Kathy (Tom) Hecht of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, John, Elizabeth Renee, Stephen, Taka, Yoshi, Kramer, Kamden, Ray, Leah and Heather; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Hailey, Andrew, Jeremiah, Cole, Sarah, Lennon and Eliza; four siblings, Jim A. (Michelle) Eakin of Cape Girardeau, Sandy L. (Bob) Benefield of McClure, Illinois, Kenneth "Max" (Linda) Eakin of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Terry L. Eakin of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Emily "Cleo" Burton; a daughter-in-law, Mayumi Rampley; and her parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shawnee Hills Baptist Church.
