SIKESTON -- Betty Poole, 61, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Manila, Ark., daughter of Robert Lee and Hettie Fretwell Rodgers. She and Bobby Joe Poole were married March 4, 1949, in Piggott, Ark. He died May 29, 1979.
Poole had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life, but had also lived in California. She formerly worked at National Lock in Sikeston. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Morehouse, and was a member of American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston.
Survivors include a son, Tony Johnson Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; her father of Matthews; two brothers, Eldon Rodgers of Portageville, L.G. Rodgers of Sikeston; two sisters, Della Harville and Kathryn Appleton of Sikeston; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, a son, and sister.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick Krietemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery near Puxico.
