TAMMS, Ill. -- Betty Poddig, 70, of Tamms died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 21, 1945, in Cairo, Illinois, daughter of William Walter and Edna Kathryn Ferguson Baine. She and Robert W. Poddig Sr. were married June 17, 1972. TAMMS, Ill. -- Betty Poddig, 70, of Tamms died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 21, 1945, in Cairo, Illinois, daughter of William Walter and Edna Kathryn Ferguson Baine. She and Robert W. Poddig Sr. were married June 17, 1972. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1994.

Betty was a sales agent 30 years with Trans World Airlines. She was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and International Aerospace & Machinists Union.

Survivors include five children, Ruth (James) Hays of Patton, Missouri, Robert W. (Cassandra) Poddig Jr. of Englewood, Tennessee, Ronald Poddig of Patton, William (Angela) Poddig of Kingsland, Georgia, and Kathryn (John) Myers of Tamms; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Sue) Baine of Thompsonville, Illinois, and Steven (Sara) Baine of Tamms; two sisters, Evelyn (Lupe) Aguila of Tamms and Shirley (Roy) Boren of Tamms; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; a brother, Billy Wayne Baine; two grandchildren, Troy Hays and Brandy Ratcliff; a great-grandchild, Briar Ratcliff; and two nieces, Becky Boren and Joanna Baine.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Tamms.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Edwin Baine officiating. Interment will be in McCrite Cemetery in Tamms.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
