Betty Jean Payne, 86, of Jackson, formerly of Morehouse, Missouri, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at the Monticello House.
Born on Jan. 18, 1929, in Morehouse to the late Thomas and Dimple Shultz Sheeter, she was a homemaker. On March 28, 1948, in Morehouse, she married Delbert Payne, who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1992.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Timothy Gainey of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kimberly and John Barnard of Jackson; and three great-grandchildren, Dominique Barnard, Johnathon Barnard and Kayla Barnard, all of Jackson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Sheeter Jr. and Fred Sheeter, and one sister, Elsie Love.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with Mike Perry, pastor of Fruitland Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Pallbearers will be John Barnard, Johnathon Barnard and Timothy Gainey.
