Betty Menton

ANNA, Ill. -- Betty Jane Menton, 74, of Anna died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at her home.

She was born May 18, 1931, in Cobden, Ill., daughter of Donald and Opal Afton Ryan Lingle. She married J.D. Gould in June 1959. He preceded her in death. She later married Dr. Harry Menton, who also preceded her in death.

She was a secretary at Anna State Hospital from 1959 until retiring in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Gould of Buncombe, Ill.; a stepsister, Merna O'Brien of Anna; a friend, David Smithey; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather and a brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
