Betty Jo Thompson, 92, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at the Chateau Girardeau.
She was born July 13, 1922, in Caruth, Missouri, to the late Obed and Pearl Wagster Nowell.
Betty and Lynn Lewis Thompson were married Feb. 22, 1942, at Pensacola, Florida. He preceded her in death April 30, 2014.
She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, where she was involved in Bible study and was a Sunday school teacher. Betty and Lynn owned and operated the Town House Hotel in Cape Girardeau for many years and also owned Holiday Inns in Mayfield and Murray, Kentucky. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Baptist Women.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna (Don) Neal of Richmond, Kentucky, Karen (Ron) Carmody of Spicewood, Texas, Beverly Thompson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Robin (Tim) Miller of Jackson; a brother, N.J. (Shirley) Nowell of New Madrid, Missouri; a sister, Virginia Carpenter of New Madrid; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lynn Lewis Thompson; one daughter; and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri.
