ANNA, Ill. -- Betty Jo Echols, 81, of Anna died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at her home.

She was born April 3, 1927, in Wetaug, Ill., daughter of Claude and Grace Ella Cruse Miller. She married Vaughn Echols, who died Dec. 22, 1991.

Echols was a member of First Baptist Church in Dongola, Ill. She worked at International Shoe Co. and later at Anna State Hospital. She retired as a dietary manager at Vienna Correctional Center.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Ann Woodard of Anna; and a brother, Darrell Miller of Dongola.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.
