Betty K. Renner Cruce, 73, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Southeast Hospital.

Betty was born March 7, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, a daughter of Anton "Tony" B. and Hilda B. Welker Renner. She married Delmar "Joe" Cruce on April 22, 1977, and he preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2011.

Early in her working years, Betty worked for Saint Francis Medical Center, but for more than 30 years, she was a babysitter, caring for countless children. Betty loved her family very deeply, and spending time with them and keeping up with them was one of her greatest joys. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two brothers, Donnie A. Renner of Perryville, Missouri, and Michael J. (Brenda) Renner of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Bonnie Powell of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Anna Lynch of Benton, Missouri, Mary (Mark) Hiedbreder of Houston and Petty (Stan) Huber of Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Powell and Jim Lynch; and a sister-in-law, Marie Renner.

Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Alex Sutachan celebrating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
