Betty M. Brown, 82, of Bethalto, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at her home. She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Jackson, daughter of Willis and Leona Mae Slinkard Orrell. She and Paul Brown were married March 9, 1940, at Marble Hill, Mo. Formerly of Jackson, Brown worked 23 years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, was a meter maid with Jackson Police Department seven years and retired in 1986 from Rexall Drugs. ...

Betty M. Brown, 82, of Bethalto, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at her home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Jackson, daughter of Willis and Leona Mae Slinkard Orrell. She and Paul Brown were married March 9, 1940, at Marble Hill, Mo.

Formerly of Jackson, Brown worked 23 years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, was a meter maid with Jackson Police Department seven years and retired in 1986 from Rexall Drugs. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern star Chapter 91 in Jackson.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Paul Brown Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Mayfield of Elsa, Ill.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
