Bettie Lou Gunn, 77, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Hugh and Roxie Henson Mitchell. She was a graduate of Central High School.
Bettie worked 30 years in Pensacola, Fla. She moved to Alaska and worked on the Alaska Pipe Line from 1980 to 1983, where she was a member of the Culinary Union. Upon retirement in 1983, Bettie moved back to Cape Girardeau. She has been a resident of Fountainbleau Lodge more than three years.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Victor R. and Mary Gunn of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Marabelle Sams of Biloxi, Miss.; a brother, Diamond Blakney of Biloxi; a granddaughter, Alexia Gunn of Cape Girardeau; two uncles, Donald and Fred Kraft of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Joel Hebert will officiate.
