EAST PRAIRIE -- Bessie Mae Estes, 88, of East Prairie, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1992, at her home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1903, in Winston County, Ala., daughter of John T. and Agnes Pettit Haley. She and John H. Estes were married Oct. 22, 1920. He died July 23, 1956.
Estes was a member of First Church of God here, and its Ora Scott Group.
Survivors include seven daughters, Eva McAfee of East Prairie, Vera Howell of Patriot, Ind., Susie Kirby of Clinton, Ky., Alene Hyslip of West Liberty, Ohio, Cristeen Filson of Eden, Ind., Eunice Fisher of Cedar Lake, Ind., Laverne Norris of Paoli, Ind.; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, five stepdaughters, two stepsons, seven brothers, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Chapel. Larry Smith will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
