SIKESTON -- Bessie L. Gardner, 101, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 14, 1898, in Thaxton, Miss., daughter of Jesse and Nancy Angeline Slaughter Russell. She married M.G. McCoy and Walker Taylor, who preceded her in death. She later married Thomas W. Gardner, who died March 23, 1980.
Gardner had worked at JCPenney, International Shoe Co., Woehlecke Florist, and The Flower Basket. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Pansie Poe and Aileen Beal of Sikeston; a stepson, Emory Taylor of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Sandra Shaller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
