ADVANCE -- Bessie Clary Abernathy, 84, Advance Route 2, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996, at the home of a son in Swartz Creek, Mich. She was born May 28, 1912, at Zeta, daughter of Walter and Minnie Bush Palmer. She first married Cecil Clary, who died Dec. 6, 1956. She later married Arthur Abernathy, who died July 3, 1986...

ADVANCE -- Bessie Clary Abernathy, 84, Advance Route 2, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996, at the home of a son in Swartz Creek, Mich.

She was born May 28, 1912, at Zeta, daughter of Walter and Minnie Bush Palmer. She first married Cecil Clary, who died Dec. 6, 1956. She later married Arthur Abernathy, who died July 3, 1986.

Abernathy was a member of Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church at Aquilla.

Survivors include two sons, Delvis Clary of Swartz Creek, Curtis Clary of Royal Oaks, Mich.; a daughter, Marilyn Lippert of California; a brother, Raleigh Palmer of Aquilla; a sister, Lola Cates of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Lafferty officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Aquilla.
