ADVANCE, Mo. -- Bertie Lou "Sissy" Harrell Camren, 88, of Advance passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Advance Nursing Center.
Sissy was born Feb. 14, 1930, at Brownwood, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse Campbell "J.C." and Cora May Allen Harrell. Sissy and Hubert "Buddy" Camren were united in marriage Oct. 4, 1952, in Sank, Missouri, and he preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1997.
Sissy and Buddy were farmers all of their lives. She also had worked at the Florsheim Shoe factory in Advance and retired from the Advance Nursing Center as a dietary aide. She attended Brownwood General Baptist Church most of her life and recently attended Advance First Church in Advance.
Survivors include a sister, Elvonda Harrell Beal of Arab, Missouri; a brother, Jesse "Ted" Cortez of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Latham Harrell of St. Louis and Jean Moore Harrell of Chaffee, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Herbert Camren of Granite City, Illinois; three special nieces she helped raise, Velma Harrell Wachter of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and June Harrell Simmons and Rosetta Harrell Kinder, both of Scott City; three first cousins, Joy Stevens Williams of Belleville, Illinois, June Allen Vickers of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Alice Allen Fountain of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and a host of other nieces and nephews, whom she loved and helped raise.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three siblings, Eleen Harrell of Brownwood, Ollie Vance Harrell of St. Louis and Lydia Mae Harrell Mitchell of Brownwood; and six half siblings, Elijah Harrell of Brownwood, Ezra "Tuck" Lovell Harrell of Brownwood, George "G.C." Campbell Harrell of Chaffee, Neota Harrell of Brownwood, Lievethe Harrell of Brownwood and Watis Raymond Harrell of Chaffee.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brad Moore and Pastor Cory Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Brownwood Cemetery in Brownwood.
