CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Bertha A. Thurman, 85, of Charleston died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Bertrand Nursing Center. She was born April 11, 1919, in Loretta, Tenn., son of John Daniel and Kizzie Comer Littrell. She and Boydie Thurman were married Sept. 22, 1938. He died Sept. 24, 1988...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Bertha A. Thurman, 85, of Charleston died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Bertrand Nursing Center.

She was born April 11, 1919, in Loretta, Tenn., son of John Daniel and Kizzie Comer Littrell. She and Boydie Thurman were married Sept. 22, 1938. He died Sept. 24, 1988.

Thurman had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She retired from Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston. Thurman attended the Church of the Nazarene in Charleston.

Survivors include a son, Monte Thurman of Sikeston, Mo.; two daughters, Ann Oliver and Darlene Williams, both of Charleston.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, eight brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with John Bouldrey officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Cemetery.
