JACKSON -- Bertha M. Kester, 99, of Oak Ridge, died at Jackson Manor Nursing Home Saturday, Oct. 8, 1994.
She was born at Oak Ridge Jan. 24, 1895, daughter of John Maintz and Augusta D. Haupt Maintz.
She married Bennett C. Kester Jan. 26, 1926. He preceded her in death March 28, 1943.
She is survived by a son, John G. Kester of Oak Ridge; three stepsons, Fate Kester of Millersville, Ray Kester and John Henry "Bud" Kester, both of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Juanita Moore of Oak Ridge and stepdaughter, Irene M. Criddle of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a number of stepgrandchildren and step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson and brother.
She was a member of the former Kurreville Lutheran Church and later, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson.
She was a former member of the Old Salem Homemakers Club
Service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Kurreville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
