CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Bertha M. Goetz, 86, of Chaffee passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Kelso, Mo., to the late Lena Martin Schlosser. She married Melvin F. Goetz on Oct. 9, 1943, and he preceded her in death Jan. 13, 2008.
Bertha was a machine operator for the Bukstein Pants Factory in Chaffee. She later worked on the production line at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, Mo., and St. Anne's Sodality.
Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" (Antoinette) Goetz of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Larry (Vickie) Goetz of Chaffee; a brother, Leon Schlosser of Kelso; two sisters, Rita Westrich of St. Louis and Caecilia Presley of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; andsix great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Goetz.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, with the Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
