Bertha Enelia Gilmer, 92, of Scott City died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 3, 1917, in Fairdealing, Mo., to Otis and Lilly Collins Johnston. She and William Clinton Gilmer Sr. were married Oct. 31, 1939, in Chaffee, Mo. He died April 17, 1987.
Gilmer was a serger for Buckstein's Pants Factory and a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City.
She is survived by two sons, William C. John (Michele) Gilmer Jr. of Scott City, Gary (Sheila) Gilmer of Devine, Texas; three brothers, Leroy and Linus Johnston of Jackson, Sammy Johnston of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren, Tom (Tracey) Gilmer, Tricia (Jeff) Curnell, Susie Gilmer, all of Scott City, Autumn Gilmer, Breanne (Devon) Billups of Devine; five great-grandchildren, Tom and Tim Gilmer of the U.S. Navy, Chelsea and Taylor Gilmer of Scott City, and Gretchen Billups of Devine.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gregg Fina officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
