EAST PRAIRIE -- Bertha Loomis Garland, 81, of East Prairie died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
She was born April 1, 1917, in New Madrid County, daughter of Luther and Lela Peteet Burns. She and Willie Lee Loomis were married in 1932. He died April 18, 1966. She later married Asberry Garland June 30, 1970. He died Dec. 21, 1994.
Garland had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Loomis of Blytheville, Ark., Gary Loomis of East Alton, Ill., Dennis Loomis of East Prairie; two daughters, Lela Wade of Arlington, Ky., Flo Byrd of Blytheville; a sister, Helen Busby of Hickman, Ky.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. George White officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
