VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Bertha Curry, 93, of Villa Ridge died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Olmsted, Illinois, to Werner and Josephine Holhubner Schnaare.

She married John Curry on Oct. 5, 1940. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 2004.

Bert was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Olmsted. She was a teacher's aide and cook at Meridian School and spent many years assisting her husband and family on their farm.

She is survived by one son, Terry Curry (Jeanie) of Villa Ridge; one daughter, Sheryl Meadows (Russ) of Seminole, Florida; two grandsons, Terry J. Curry of Villa Ridge and Bryan Curry (Linda) of Olmsted; one granddaughter, Angela Kemp (Jeremy) of Largo, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Tristen of Villa Ridge, Cloey, Landon and Jerron of Olmsted and Olivia Kemp of Largo; three sisters, Elsie Shaffer of Dongola, Illinois, Agnes Thurston of Pulaski, Illinois, and Margaret Thompson of Jefferson City, Missouri; two brothers, John Schnaare of Olmsted and Kenneth Schnaare of Huntsville, Alabama; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Chad Meadows; an infant brother; and two sisters, Mildred Helig and Irene Florreich.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Olmsted.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Phil Donner officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the church.

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin is in charge of arrangements.
