BERTHA C. SCHWARTZ

NEW HAMBURG -- Bertha C. Schwartz, 81, of New Hamburg, died Wednesday, March 10, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 8, 1911, at New Hamburg, daughter of Theon and Ida Menz Grojean.

Schwartz was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, New Hamburg Senior Citizens, and a former Scott County 4-H Club leader here.

Survivors include a son, Bill Schwartz of Scott City; three daughters, Phyllis Westrich of Hazelwood, Lillian Westrich of New Hamburg, LaVerne Cook of Shreveport, La.; three brothers, Charles Grojean of New Hamburg, Theon Grojean Jr. of Sikeston, Francis Grojean of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Rose Heisserer, Corona Kelpe and Marie Clinton of Cape Girardeau, Sybilla Cresap of Advance, Rita Staebel of Kelso; 15 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson and sister.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Church. The Rev. Amel Shibley will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. The parish rosary is at 7:30.
