LEOPOLD -- Bertha Adelhid Beussink, 82, of Leopold died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at the family home. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, at Glennon, daughter of the late Gerhard Louis and Annie DeBrock Jansen. On Oct. 6, 1937, she and Bernard J. Beussink were united in marriage...

LEOPOLD -- Bertha Adelhid Beussink, 82, of Leopold died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at the family home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1917, at Glennon, daughter of the late Gerhard Louis and Annie DeBrock Jansen. On Oct. 6, 1937, she and Bernard J. Beussink were united in marriage.

Bertha was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church at Leopold, a member and past president of the St. Ann's Parish Council of Catholic Women, an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, a homemaker and an avid quilter. She had made and given quilts to all of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Beussink; two sons, Joe Beussink of Carbondale, Ill., and Ralph Beussink of Leopold; four daughters, Angela Carlisle of Leopold, Geri Geringer of Bloomington, Ind., Jenny Nenninger of Leopold and Debra Eudy of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Luke Jansen of Leopold; a sister, Gertrude Vandeven of Leopold; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lydia Beussink; an infant daughter, Joann; a three-year-old daughter, Dorothy; six brothers, Louis, Otto, Simon, Glen, John and Walter Jansen; and two sisters, Alma Jansen and Marie Schreckenberg.

Visitation will after 4 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home at Marble Hill. Parish Prayers and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church. The officiating minister will be Father Bill Huggins, pastor of the church. Interment will follow in the St. John's Cemetery.
