SIKESTON, Mo. -- Amon Benson "Bert" Ashcraft, 55, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1946, at Sikeston, son of Amon Birl and Nina Maxine Forrest Ashcraft. He first married Emma Jean Garrison, who died Aug. 3, 1973. He and Hazel Elnora Ammerman were married Aug. 1, 1976, at Sikeston. She died Dec. 12, 1999.
Ashcraft was a self-employed private investigator and professional shopper. He was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post. He attended Christ Gospel Church at Blodgett, Mo.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Ford; a daughter, Starr Harden; his mother; a brother, Arthur Ashcraft, all of Sikeston; two sisters, Nina Rose of Sikeston, Alice Evans of Troy, Ill.; a friend, Judy Babb of Sikeston; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Joe King officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
