SIKESTON -- Bernice Ellen Stone, 80, of Sikeston died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born Oct. 11, 1918, at Aid, daughter of Mont Russell and Dora Isabel Green Frank. She first married Robert Scott Bryant Sr. in September 1935. He died Sept. 21, 1954. She later married Myles Stone Dec. 24, 1982...

SIKESTON -- Bernice Ellen Stone, 80, of Sikeston died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 11, 1918, at Aid, daughter of Mont Russell and Dora Isabel Green Frank. She first married Robert Scott Bryant Sr. in September 1935. He died Sept. 21, 1954. She later married Myles Stone Dec. 24, 1982.

Stone was a cook at Cadets School at the airport during World War II. She was also a teachers' aide at Morehouse, and a cook at the Missouri State Group Home in Sikeston and Poplar Bluff. She was a member of First Baptist Church at Morehouse.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Russell Bryant of Wappapello; two daughters, Ruth Lacy and Sue Morris of Sikeston; two stepsons, Steve Stone of Scott City, Darrell Barnett of Tanner; a sister, Blanche McVey of Sikeston; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

Friends may call Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Revs. J.D. McClard and Dolan Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
