Bernice M. Oldham, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, Minn.

She was born April 5, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Raymond and Anita Allers Thomas. She and Charles Elvin Oldham were married Aug. 9, 1941, in Aurora. He died in 1978.

Oldham was a 1934 graduate of Central High School, and had worked at United Shoe Machinery Corp.

She lived most of her life at Monett. She worked at Roderick Arm and Tool 25 years. After retiring Oldham joined the Peace Corps and served two and a half years as a business teacher in the Yemen Arab Republic. After returning to the United States she was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Chuck Oldham of Springfield; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, a daughter, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Buchanan Chapel in Monett from 7-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mark Mildren officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Monett.
