SIKESTON, Mo. -- Bernice M. Carter, 78, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Canalou, Mo., daughter of Cliff and Lottie Ethyl Turner Dismuke. She and Roy L. Carter were married June 13, 1973, in Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 19, 1985.
Carter had been a waitress at Harris Drug Store Snack Bar, and worked at Ramada Inn and Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Black of Louisville, Ky., Dennis Wethington of Sikeston; two daughters, Shirley Pease of Sikeston, Rosa Perry of Pocahontas, Ark.; two brothers, Jack Dismuke of St. Louis, T.J. Dismuke of Caseyville, Ill.; five sisters, Hazel Evans of Sikeston, Ella Trousdale of Sedgewickville, Mo., Lavada Showmaker of Dupo, Ill., Margie Wright of Florissant, Mo., Mary Shevlin of Caseyville; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Adams officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
